2025 Continuity NHC
NHCers past, present and future,
Apologies if this news has already reached you. The 2025 NHC, to be remembered as the “Continuity NHC,” will be contested in August at Foxburg Country Club. It will be included as a subset of Tom Johnson’s venerable Foxburg Hickory Championship, August 7-9.
My personal situation for 2025 includes a possible out of state move, knee replacement and cataract removal surgeries. Owing to recovery periods and the uncertainly of when certain of these events will occur makes it too difficult to personally conduct the event.
In the interest in keeping the event continued – and we did play and survive the COVID year – Tom Johnson, Ross Snellings and Rusty Ravert will be on hand to manage the NHC portion.
This “Continuity” version of the NHC will be comprised of 36 holes of championship play in the Foxburg Hickory Championship. Players’ scores in those days’ play of the Foxburg event will also be used to determine the NHC winner. Additionally, there will be a 9-hole event played with featheries, the International Feathery Challenge, on Thursday. Information will be available for those interested from Tom, Ross or Rusty. There will be no additional entry fees for the NHC competition nor the IFC but there will be prizes and recognition.
I apologize for the abridged version of the classic NHC gutty ball competition but I cannot see any way I can manage the championship this year. This alternative plan not only preserves our record, OUR CONTINUITY, this being the 28th year, but it can bring some new players to Foxburg as well. Foxburg is an attractive facility with a fascinating history.
